They don’t lie when they say a dog is a man’s best friend. In my case my dog Mister is not only my best friend, but my fur child, as well as, practice buddy. You will soon learn that my dog is one of the most important things in my life and I talk about him all the time! So I’m sorry, but not sorry that you will hear about him a lot in most stories.
When I first started taking classes in BodyTalk, I would leave super excited about all the information I learned and eager to try it out. The only problem is I didn’t really have a lot of people to try out these new skills. No one in my circle even knew what BodyTalk was and weren’t exactly too keen to be my “guinea pig”.
One night I was sitting in bed and racking my brain thinking about what people I could ask to practice on and Mister was sitting on my feet wagging his tail just starring at me. He almost looked like he was begging for a session and yet I was not taking the hint. I can admit that my awareness is not always tuned in to my surroundings especially when I first started on this new journey. After about 30 minutes it dawned on me that maybe I should try something simple like cortices on Mister.
Mister responded immediately to cortices. He instantly responded by melting into his bed and letting out a light groan. For the next few weeks I would do cortices on him whenever he was super restless before bed and didn’t want to sleep (my partner use to work night shifts and he use to have a hard time sleeping without everyone home).
I was pretty intrigued by this response so I decided to kick it up a notch and actually do a full on session with him. Through these sessions I have learned more about his fears and why he doesn’t seem to like certain people, which we are now addressing and making progress on! The other cool effect was how much more we became connected to each other, the mutual trust we have for each other grew extremely fast. Now when he is showing poor behavioural signs, I just go into MindScape (a tool used by many BodyTalkers) and learn why he’s acting out so we can deal with it better. Not to mention the few medical incidents we have had together and I didn’t know what to do so I started doing BodyTalk on him and it passed immediately.
So to bring me back to the title “How my dog helped me with my business”, he let me practice on him when I had no one else to help me. So when you are feeling stuck, just keep your options open and not form conclusions and you will find what you need, for me that was my little fur child Mister.
